Heather’s Story

I grew up in Savannah in a Christian home. As part of our homeschooling, my family had morning meetings in the living room where we would read the Bible and pray together. My parents found Compassion Christian and brought our family to worship services nearly every Sunday. I learned to love worshipping God with all my heart and God has shown me that when my heart sings to Him, I will be joyful.

I have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, which is quite common, but it affects people in different ways. One symptom is the tendency to internalize anger. Instead of getting angry at my parents, family and friends, often I would get angry at myself and see myself as a burden. When I was told about my disorder, I thought it had to be fixed. However, God showed me that because of this disorder I have abilities that many people don't have. He has given me a strong imagination and the ability to multitask well. I am able to be a compassionate and loving person.

I no longer live in Georgia, but I still go to the Compassion Christian website every so often and watch a sermon. Thank you for the wisdom and love shared in these messages.
