Jessica’s Story
I came to know Jesus when I was 12 years old. My grandmother was a big influence in my life and taught me a lot, but I didn’t fully understand the commitment that following Jesus would require.
I got married early, aged 22. My husband and I tried to have a baby for over a year but had difficulties conceiving. We tried everything we could and had tests done, but nothing worked. It was a really hard time.
Then my husband had an affair. We got divorced, and I lost all hope of a good marriage and having my own family. I felt so lost and empty. I remember asking, ‘Why, why me?”
One night I was lying in bed after many nights of crying, and I said, “Lord, I’m done asking why. I know that You have a plan for me. From now on, I’ll follow You and let You lead me.”
Right after that I bought my first house on my own, and I found a wonderful man whom I later married. I went from having no children to having three step-children, one baby and now another one on the way. That’s five children! I couldn't be happier!
We follow and serve The Lord together. While we were trying to find a church, a friend invited us to Compassion Christian Church. Coming here helped deepen my reconnection with Jesus. It helped me to truly understand how to serve God. My commitment to Him is stronger than ever. It might not be a great story, but it showed me that He does have plans for us.
