Karli’s Story
"Growing up I went to church every Sunday, but I didn’t understand why God let bad things happen to me. I was often bullied at school, and in ninth grade I had to have major back surgery. I barely graduated from high school and did poorly in college. I had a series of bad relationships as my boyfriends lied to me and cheated on me. I had a miscarriage. God felt so far away.
"I met my husband through work. We knew each other for years but never dated. He joined the USMC and was sent to Afghanistan. We stayed in touch while he was away and started dating when he got back. We got engaged and married pretty quickly. We got pregnant right away but had a miscarriage. A few months later, he deployed again. My family and friends were eight hours away. I had never felt so alone.
"When he got back we got pregnant again and had a healthy baby. My husband left the military and we moved back home to Savannah. Finances were tight. Out of the blue, my mom wanted to go to church and invited us to go with her, and so we found Compassion Christian. We’ve gone every week since!
"Compassion Christian really helps bring Jesus into our daily lives. We feel like God is in the room with us when we worship. I've never felt so close to Him. Coming to church here has helped our marriage and has helped us be good parents. Our life has changed dramatically. My husband received a raise at work and I'm now able to stay home with our boys while they're little. I know that God brought me through the storm so that I could see the rainbow in my life now."
