Matthew’s Story

I grew up in a loving Christian family. My parents attended Compassion Christian Church, so I’ve been coming here since I was four years old. But I was only physically at the services, not mentally.

Looking back, I see that I was living only for myself. I wanted to be in a band and tour the world, get all the girls and prove myself. Then one day the band I was in broke up… and I was hopeless.

My brother went on a mission trip to Africa last summer and it made a huge impact in his life. I was intrigued to see what Jesus could do in my own life, and so I started attending church not because I had to, but because I wanted to. And I loved it! I kept coming every Sunday. Throughout those weeks I realized that I had been living for the wrong reason.

Once I began walking with Jesus, I felt God calling me to join the worship team. I met with the worship pastors weekly and they began to disciple me in my faith and teach me about leading worship. I began leading worship at Element, the high school ministry, and immediately felt God say, "This is My will." Jesus has changed my life and now when I play, I point all the glory to Him, not to myself.

Jesus has worked through this church so much. I was shown compassion, love, kindness, and all the hope, power and glory of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I love this Church because this church loves Jesus. What more could you ask for in a church?
