Stephanie’s Story

I was a severely depressed, sad and angry person. My husband was in the Army and worked all the time while I lay around all day and did nothing. I barely had the energy or will to care for my own children. I felt worthless.

I left college early one day and was driving when I had the overwhelming urge to wreck my car. I decided my husband and kids would be better off without me. So I drove off the road into the forest at 70 mph.

Amazingly, I only had very minor injuries. Right then I knew that Jesus had saved me. Even the paramedics were adamant that He was the only reason I was still alive.

Since then, despite the struggles, I have seen Him work in my life so much. Things that would have broken me before have made me stronger. My family has survived many hardships lately but Jesus has led us through the darkness. At our weakest point, we learned to give our problems to God. The difference this has made in my life is remarkable. I finally understand that nothing good can be accomplished without Him.

A pastor from my hometown told me about Compassion Christian Church and insisted I try it out. I was in the Savannah area for a while before I thought about finding it. One day in a drive-thru I was behind a vehicle with a Compassion Christian sticker on the back window. After they went through the person pulled over. I pulled up beside them and asked for directions to the church.

Once I found it I knew could never leave! Each sermon speaks to something inside me in a way that I have never experienced before. The way Cam talks about Jesus inspires me want to know Him better. I have been able to meet a lot of people who serve at church and hear their testimonies. They have shown me how Jesus is working through them, and they have given me hope that one day I too will be able to trust in Jesus 100% without any doubt.
