Enjoy the Process

As we are growing closer to launching this campus there will be a lot of planning going on within our ministry team.  We have had meeting after meeting about how to execute this launch in the most effective, methodical and kingdom-focused way and we really feel like we are gaining a clear vision and direction for the next six months.  While the end result is important, I think it is sometimes wise for us to stop and simply listen to what God is trying to teach us through the process.

By nature, I am a detailed oriented person.  I like to plan, I like to plot and I like to watch a plan I created come together in every small and insignificant way.  If I don’t stop and breathe sometimes, I can become completely absorbed in the end result and totally miss what is going on around me or what God is trying to teach me through the process.

There is a lot to be said about people who can truly live “in the moment” and be completely present where they are.  My challenge for us this week is to focus on the process as much or maybe even more than the final result.  God isn’t waiting on us to “arrive” somewhere so that he can teach us.  He is ready and willing to speak to us and to teach us in every process, situation and circumstance.  Don’t miss an opportunity to be guided by Him along the way.

Luke 10: 38-42

38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”

41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
